Overlooking the shores of Lake Como, Villa Carlotta was built in late 17th century by the Clerici marquises of Milan. It owes its name to Princess Charlotte, who in 1850 received the residence as a wedding gift for her marriage to Duke Georg II of Saxony. Today, the Villa is one of the most visited and admired sites on the lake: in a stunning position facing the Bellagio peninsula and the surrounding mountains, it is home to a magnificent botanical garden rich in rare species and hosts an outstanding art collection.
